Crosslinked polyethylene foams which are expanded 10 to 40 times in volume are made by both chemical and irradiation crosslinking methods. PTH-XPE is chemical crosslinked polyethylene foam and PTH-IXPE is irradiation crosslinked polyethylene foam product. They have desirable qualities for commercial use because of their resiliency, inherently closed-cell construction, small cell size (less than 250microns).
